Commetrex, Inventor of TerminatingT38, Receives Order from 75th T.38 Fax Customer

Atlanta, GA, March 16, 2007 – Commetrex Corporation, the recognized worldwide leader in fax technologies, is pleased to announce it has achieved its 75th T.38 customer, Copia International Ltd. (West Chicago, Ill.) , which recently licensed Commetrex’ BladeWare HMP media server, featuring TerminatingT38. In addition to Copia, Commetrex fax technology is used by some of the finest names in telecom, including Agere, Siemens, Broadsoft, Tektronix, Iperia, Castelle, IP Unity, and Grandstream, just to name a few. Tom Ray, Executive VP for Commetrex stated, “Commetrex is pleased to have reached this milestone in the company’s history. We will continue to introduce market-leading fax products. In addition, we will soon announce voice- and video-based products that continue our strong tradition of innovation.” Ray added that Commetrex’ T.38 is licensed by developers of gateways in PowerRelay for T.38, by media-server vendors in TerminatingT38, and by test-equipment vendors in Multi-Modal Terminating Fax (MMTF).

Commetrex made its first shipment of T.38 fax relay in 2000, and claims to be the inventor of TerminatingT38, as it was shipped in May of 2001. TerminatingT38, a combination of the ITU T.38 fax relay and T.30, the terminating fax-protocol engines, provides developers of a network-service platform or an enterprise fax server the technology necessary to terminate real-time T.38 fax (IP network) transmissions, the same as it would real-time faxes from the PSTN using analog modems. Media-server OEMs license MMTF to terminate both T.38 and G.711 pass-through faxes, which come from gateways that do not yet support T.38. Test-equipment vendors use MMTF as the foundation of their support for IP-based fax testing.
